Youth Square 'YS Career Experience Programme' offers a diverse set of experiences to encourage career exploration

HONG KONG, April 14, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Entering the workplace as a student, the new generation is inevitably uncertain about their future aspirations and feel perplexed about their way forward. Therefore, Youth Square has re-designed the programme with the theme of 'Slash Level-up'. Participants are able to learn more about the actual working environment across various departments and explore career options in the job market through the process of self-understanding under the guidance of industry professionals, in order to choose a career path by identifying key skills and interests, matching qualities to a potential job field. A new element has been added to the progamme this year, joiners will be able to participate in the preparation of a promotional project during the period of their internship, which not only continuously equips themselves but also conveys the entrepreneurial spirit by propelling the development of youth work.

'YS Career Experience Programme' is now open for applications until 23 April. Under the eight-week career experience, interns are able to gain working experience in different departments from June to August, including Hostel and Facilities Management Department etc., to experience and perform a whole spectrum of tasks and projects. Leveraging on the venues and hostel at Youth Square, interns will actively participate in daily tasks of various departments while gaining an understanding of industries such as venue management, hostel management and marketing through cross-function projects. The programme enables interns to explore the relationships between academic achievements and soft skills at the workplace by identifying multiple skills & interests which help them to establish a positive work attitude and expand career horizons.

Youth Square has been providing a relaxed, reliable and safe environment for youth to explore every possibility of their potentials. Through organising internship programme every year, we hope the opportunities of career experience would help youth to develop their career plans by identifying their key skills and interests, matching qualities to a potential job field and building up confidence.

YS Career Experience Programme 2023:

Recruitment period: From now until 23 April 2023 (Sunday)

Interview period: 2 May to 5 May 2023

Internship period: From 26 June to 20 August 2023 (Total 8 weeks)

'YS Career Experience Programme' is now open for applications until 23 April. Under the eight-week career experience, interns are able to gain experience in different departments from June to August.

Alvin Tsang, an intern who worked in Youth Square's Operations Department expressed, 'The internship provides a lot of opportunities to work with different departments of the company, I fully experienced the importance of workplace collaboration, so that we can empathize and understand different roles at work.'

In addition to the opportunity to participate in the daily work of the department, "YS Career Experience Programme" also arranges different activities and training for the interns, such as leadership training, which help participants improve their leadership, problem-solving skills and learn how to keep a positive attitude at work.

Youth Square

The Youth Square, which came into full operation in 2010, is a youth development project of the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government, with an aim to be the hub of diversified youth development activities for youth to develop their potential. Youth Square facilities include the 643-seat Y Theatre, Y Studio, multi-function areas and the Y Loft which has 148 guest rooms. Youth Square has been conducting events under three themes, include "Music & Dance", "Arts & Culture" and "Community Engagement".

Y Loft is conveniently located, 3-minute walk from Chai Wan MTR Station. The 148-room Y Loft is located in Youth Square's Main Block and Hostel Block. Room selection includes Twin, Twin Room with Balcony, Triple, House of Six, Duplex and Accessible Rooms. Accessible Rooms, with widened corridor and more space, are designed to deliver the same comfort and peace of mind to visitors with disabilities.
