Nippon Budokan to Showcase Japanese Martial Arts in Singapore for Republic's 60th Independence Anniversary

SINGAPORE, Oct. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- To mark the 60th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Singapore, the Nippon Budokan and the Japanese Budo Association will present the BUDO – Japanese Martial Arts Demonstration & Workshop at the Singapore Sport Hub OCBC Arena Hall 1A on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

A Celebration of Tradition, Friendship, and Cultural Exchange

Since its inception in 1978, the "Japanese Budo Delegation" has introduced audiences around the world to the profound traditions of Budo.

After adopting a new operational format in 2008, Singapore becomes the 14th destination of the delegation. As Japan and Singapore prepare to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026, this dispatch serves as a symbol of the deepening ties between the two nations.

The Singapore program will feature:

• Budo Demonstration – Powerful demonstrations by leading masters of modern and classical Budo.
• Workshops – There will be time set aside for you to try out the martial arts and ancient martial arts that will be demonstrated on the day, such as Judo, Kendo, Karate, and Aikido.

Disciplines represented include nine modern Budo forms (Judo, Kendo, Kyudo, Sumo, Karatedo, Aikido, Shorinjikempo, Naginata, Jukendo) and three classical Kobudo schools (Hokushin Itto-ryu Kenjutsu, Hozoin-ryu Takada-ha Sojutsu, Okinawa Goju-ryu Bujutsu).

Building Global Bridges Through Budo

Each year, the Nippon Budokan and the Japanese Budo Association select around 70 expert practitioners to share their craft abroad. Its mission goes beyond the presentation of Budo; it is dedicated to fostering friendship, goodwill, and mutual understanding. Past destinations of the delegation include Brazil, Germany, Thailand, Australia, and, most recently, Vietnam.
