CHONGQING, China, Sept. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Singapore is taking the stage as Country-of-Honour at the World Smart Industry Expo (WSIE) 2025, spotlighting the national theme, "Digital Intelligence • Innovation • Singapore". This recognition comes as Singapore and China mark the 10th anniversary of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative (CCI), a flagship government-to-government collaboration that demonstrates the enduring bilateral ties between the two countries. The Singapore Pavilion features 12 dynamic homegrown companies[1] showcasing cutting-edge solutions in innovation, digital trade, and smart cities.
Singapore's Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health, Mr Tan Kiat How, said: "Singapore's designation as Country-of-Honour at WSIE 2025 reflects the strategic importance of our partnership with Chongqing. A decade of collaboration under the CCI has unlocked new pathways for trade, investment, and innovation, enabling businesses from both countries to capitalise on new possibilities in the rapidly evolving digital economy."
Highlighting Our Tech Excellence at the Singapore Pavilion
The Singapore Pavilion, led by Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), spotlights the nation's digital expertise and role as a trusted partner for regional growth. These deepening business links between Singapore and Chongqing forge new avenues for Singapore firms in Chongqing's fast-growing digital economy, while facilitating the expansion overseas of Chinese firms to ASEAN and beyond.
Singapore companies such as FathomX and Sanbo will showcase their successful collaborations at the Pavilion for the first time, demonstrating the benefits of Singapore-China innovation partnerships. Under digital trade, IMDA's TradeTrust team and companies like Accredify will present solutions that strengthen digital connectivity and trusted cross-border flows. CapitaLand's smart construction technologies and JTC's deployment of smart solutions at Punggol Digital District (PDD) will further highlight Singapore's strengths in urban innovation and management.
The Pavilion also underscores how enduring bilateral ties power collaboration between Singaporean and Chinese tech companies.
Deepening Ties Through New Partnerships and Joint Funding Projects
At the International Digital Cooperation Forum (IDCF), an event held as part of WSIE, 10 new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between enterprises are slated to be signed. Spanning sectors such as data security, MedTech, digital finance, robotics, international trade, and AI, these MoUs signal the continued commitment from both countries to foster cross-border digital innovation.
Among the MoUs signed, Bravox Pte Ltd, an Information Communications Technology (ICT) Solutions Service Provider, and Chongqing Sansec Information Technology, received Joint Innovation Development Fund (JIDF) support to develop China's first "China–Singapore Cloud‑based Data Security Service Platform" in Chongqing. Integrating cloud‑based data security, data compliance, and cross‑border data services, the platform will enable secure, large‑scale cross‑border data flows for enterprises.
JIDF is an initiative established by IMDA, Enterprise Singapore (ESG), and Chongqing Big Data Application Development Bureau (CQBDB), that was first launched in 2019. As of May 2025, JIDF has funded 17 joint projects from 42 companies with a total funding value of SGD 2.17 million and RMB 13.42 million from Singapore and Chongqing respectively.
Building on this success, the 7th tranche of JIDF was launched on 30 Jun this year, which will allow project test beds beyond Chongqing, to Singapore or Chengdu, broadening opportunities for enterprises and reinforcing Singapore's role as a partner in spurring development in China's digital economy.
Mr Johnson Poh, Assistant Chief Executive, Sectoral Transformation Group at IMDA, said: "The new MoUs and JIDF expansion to Chengdu represent an important step in growing the Singapore-China relationship. This extension opens new avenues for companies to scale solutions across China's market while leveraging Singapore's innovation ecosystem."
Singapore and China: Building Success Together
IMDA's presence at WSIE 2025 reflects a broader commitment to shape a future where digital innovation and international cooperation serve as catalysts for economic progress.
Held in Chongqing from 5 to 8 September, WSIE is one of China's premier national-level platforms, created through the 2024 merger of the Smart China Expo (SCE) and the Tianjin World Intelligence Congress.
In addition to celebrating 10 years of successful collaboration between Singapore and Chongqing, 2025 also marks 35 years of diplomatic relations and friendship between the two nations.
