HONG KONG, Aug. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of the highlight events of 2026 youthfest@HK, SWISH! YS Basketball Fest 2026 concluded successfully at Youth Square on 23 August 2026. Centered on basketball, the event integrated sports technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and creative arts to provide an energetic and innovative sports platform for young people, encouraging them to challenge themselves and realise their potential. The event featured the 3-on-3 YS Summer Basketball Competition, Sports & Chill-Experience Workshops, and the Star Sports Teams & Athletes Memorabilia Exhibition, alongside themed photo installation and interactive games.

YS Summer Basketball Competition (15-16 & 22-23 August)

72 Youth Teams Competed on Court  Star Players Showcase Inspired the Young Athletes

The YS Summer Basketball Competition once again served as a major highlight of the event. Featuring Youth Men, Youth Women, Junior Male and Junior Women divisions, the competition brought together 72 teams for an action-packed series of matches. The Finals Day on 23 August featured a series of thrilling matchups, with teams giving their all in pursuit of championship glory. In the Junior Women Division, "無厘頭" defeated "佛教黃鳳翎" 8-4 to claim the title. The Junior Male Division delivered a nail-biting contest, with "禮起" edging past "懶青" 13-12 in a dramatic finish. In the Youth Women Division, "唔識打波" seized crucial opportunities in the closing stages, scoring three consecutive points to pull ahead and secure a 14-11 victory. The highly anticipated Youth Men Division Final saw "CGHC" dominate with a consistent performance, defeating "志在參與" 22-5 and winning by a margin of 17 points to be crowned champions. Beyond competing on the court, participants demonstrated teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

In addition to the exciting championship matches, the Grand Final also featured a "Star Players Interaction Session", where professional basketball players from Mainland China and Hong Kong met with participants and fans. Guests included former Chinese National Team player Meng Duo, professional players Liang Jiajin and Lin Liangqi, as well as Hong Kong Division A1 players De Villa Joshua Nicholas Paez, Hui Ho Cheung and Wilson Shaibu Zampalingre, showcased their skills on site. Through technical demonstrations and friendly matches, they shared basketball techniques and practical experiences, further promoting sports and exchange between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

The former Chinese National Team player Meng Duo remarked that Hong Kong has a vibrant basketball culture and that he is always excited to visit the city. He added that having the opportunity to interact directly with Hong Kong young people through this event was particularly meaningful. Lin Liangqi and Liang Jiajin praised the competition venue and expressed hope that young people would continue pursuing their passion for basketball. Meanwhile, De Villa Joshua Nicholas Paez, Hui Ho Cheung and Wilson Shaibu Zampalingre all agreed that the interaction session was highly competitive and that competing against former national team player and professional players was an invaluable learning experience. In addition, a local dance group A.R.U. was also invited to add further energy to the occasion with a lively performance.

Sports & Chill-Experience Workshops (18-23 August)

Sports Technology Enhanced Basketball Training Through AI Data Analytics

This year's workshops placed a stronger emphasis on sports technology. Through the AI Basketball Training System, participants experienced how technology can support modern sports training while developing a data-driven and scientific approach to training. Real-time analysis of shooting trajectory, release angle and shooting accuracy, helped them better understand their technical strengths and areas for improvement. The Basketball Training Workshop was led by Lee Ki, a former Hong Kong Division A1 player as known as a sharp shooter, together with the renowned basketball coach Chaton Fung. They shared practical skills on individual offence, ball handling, team tactics and game applications, helping participants improve their performance and build confidence.

In addition, the AI Jersey DIY Workshop invited participants to use AI to create personalised jersey graphics. It also promoted sustainability by encouraging them to upcycle old clothing into unique customised jerseys. The Backboard Graffiti Workshop combined sports and art, inspiring young people to develop creativity, express their own style and discover the diverse appeal of sports culture.

Star Sports Teams & Athletes Memorabilia Exhibition (15 August – 30 September)

Treasured Exhibits Celebrate Sporting Excellence and Stories of Perseverance

The Star Sports Teams & Athletes Memorabilia Exhibition presents valuable memorabilia and signed collectibles from basketball, fencing, cycling and table tennis. The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the dedication, perseverance and achievements of elite athletes.

Featured exhibits include the ABL Championship Trophy and signed team jersey from Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team, as well as treasured memorabilia from Hong Kong Division A1 basketball teams South China and Winling; Cheung Ka Long's fencing shoes; an electric jacket, mask and glove used in competition by Ryan Choi; Wong Chun Ting's competition jersey and shoes; cycling shoes and a helmet used in competition by Sarah Lee Wai Sze. Each exhibit reflects years of dedication and perseverance, highlighting the remarkable achievements of Hong Kong athletes on local and international stages, encouraging young people to pursue their own goals with determination.

The exhibition will remain on display at 5/F Public Space of Youth Square until 30 September. Visitors can enjoy these treasured sports memorabilia up close and experience the athletes' spirit of excellence, resilience and determination.
