Tam Jai International Shines at HKMA Award for Excellence in Training and Development
HONG KONG, Oct. 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Tam Jai International Co. Limited ("TJI" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries, the "Group"), one of the leading and renowned restaurant groups in Hong Kong, has been honoured with multiple awards at the prestigious HKMA Award for Excellence in Training and Development 2025, organised by the Hong Kong Management Association. The Group's District Manager Leadership Programme, "Jeh Jeh Back to School – Leading Local, Growing Global", received the Silver Award and the Excellence in Leadership Development Award in the Campaign Awards category. Additionally, TJI's Group Talent Development Manager, Ms Anki Chan, was named Trainer of the Year and Distinguished Trainer, while Group Assistant Talent Development Manager, Ms Phoebe Tam, earned the Outstanding New Trainer title.
Mr Daren Lau, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of TJI, said, "We are immensely proud that our first entry into this prestigious award programme has been met with such success. These recognitions are a powerful validation of our dedicated efforts and outstanding performance in talent cultivation. In today's ever-evolving and competitive food and beverage landscape, we firmly believe that our people—especially our frontline staff—are the backbone of our business and the key to our exceptional dining experience. Our 'Jeh Jeh Back to School – Leading Local, Growing Global' programme exemplifies our commitment to 'Uplifting People', by fostering a culture of continuous learning and empowering employee development. With a 'Will to Win, Passion to Serve' at the heart of our brand DNA, we remain steadfast in advancing our training and development endeavours for the Group's long-term sustainable growth."
Led by TJI's Group Chief People Officer, Mr Derek Wu, the Group partnered with HKU SPACE last year to launch the District Manager Leadership Programme, a first-of-its-kind initiative tailored to empower the Group's frontline leaders for both local excellence and overseas expansion. Focusing on three key areas—Personal Effectiveness, Team Management and Task Management—the programme successfully equipped district managers with practical tools to excel, and instilled a strong "can-do" mindset, greater confidence and enhanced competencies in them. It culminated in a qualification accredited to Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3, enhancing both their professional credibility and long-term career prospects. This strategic investment in talent helped cultivate a highly motivated workforce, with each participating district manager achieving a 100% employee engagement score, far surpassing industry benchmarks.
Widely regarded as the industry's equivalent of the Oscars in Hong Kong, the HKMA Award for Excellence in Training and Development is the only award of its kind in Hong Kong that gives public recognition of achievements in training and development to individuals as well as organisations.
