15 Emmy-Nominated Productions Receive Initial Made-In-Hollywood Television Awards; New Honors Continue LA City Council Effort To Promote Local Film/TV Production - Angie Dickinson, Councilman Tom LaBonge Present Awards In All Nine Emmy Categories

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the success of his two year feature film Made In Hollywood Awards program in which both winners, "The Artist" and "Argo," went on the win the Best Film Oscar, Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge, together with iconic film and TV star Angie Dickinson, on August 15 presented fifteen Emmy-nominated productions with the first Made In Hollywood Television Awards in ceremonies at 1600 Vine's Heart of Hollywood Terrace on the site of the historic Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant.  The event was co-sponsored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Klein Financial and Icelandic Glacial.

Covering all nine categories in which the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences awards productions, the first of these awards to Emmy-nominated shows made in the Southern California area generically called Hollywood were conferred upon:

"These awards," LaBonge noted, "honor the producers, studios and artists who elected to make their excellent product here in the entertainment capital of the world where it all began and where it has always been and still is done best.  I asked Angie Dickinson to join me for this occasion because, in addition to her beauty and talents, she exemplifies the determination to bring production back to its home.  At her insistence, all episodes of her long-running 'Police Woman' series were made locally rather than a previously determined out-of-state location.

Other speakers at the event included Penelope Ann Miller, star of the first recipient of the Made In Hollywood Award, "The Artist."  She noted "the interest of actors take in supporting the resurgence of production in Hollywood and the full employment of their co-workers in other crafts." 

Also speaking were Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Leron Gubler, and Klein Financial's Robert Klein who promised that his company Los Angeles properties would be dedicated to supporting the flourishing of the area's chief pride, serving great entertainment to the world.  Former Publicists Guild President Henri Bollinger spoke of Hollywood workforce support the new awards and their objective of bringing jobs back.

The newly elected L.A. Councilman Mitch O'Farrell, whose district includes parts of the Hollywood area, attended and said, "The awards this year are an important step in recognizing one of the most critical aspects of filming in Hollywood -- and that's television. Hollywood was once the domain of television production, and now has seen a dramatic decrease.
