Wireless Emergency Alerts is a national public safety warning system designed to notify consumers about severe weather, missing persons or national emergencies on their mobile phones.  C Spire participates in the program by sending the alerts to its customers in the Southeast.

C Spire is waiving the one-time activation charge and monthly service fee for Wireless Priority Service, which gives eligible emergency first responders a higher priority connection for mobile calls during a crisis or natural disaster. C Spire uses hurricane-ready "super switches" to provide added protection and service for customers in the Southeast.  Above, a switching bay inside one of the all-steel and concrete structures that houses a redundant, large-scale 500 kilowatt diesel power generator, a grid of back up batters and other redundant back-up systems, operations and technologies.  The centers are designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane with winds up to 200 mph.
