Annual Survey Reveals Condom Use Habits, Sexual Habits, Online and Mobile Dating Trends and More

ISELIN, N.J., July 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Millennials are closing the orgasm gap according to a national study conducted by Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions and the makers of LifeStyles® and SKYN® Condoms ("SKYN"). Recognized as the manufacturer of two of the nation's leading condom brands, Ansell is debuting the results of the 2015 SKYN Condoms Millennial Sex Survey, which reveals the encouraging finding that millennial females are achieving orgasm nearly as often as men during sex.

Some significant results from the survey that showcase how millennials are closing the gap include: 

The Big O: Most female millennials are reaching orgasm during sex, with 89 percent typically experiencing the "Big O," and only 5 percent of survey respondents reporting that they don't typically reach the finish.

The Buzz on Vibrators: Millennials are not shy about asking for a helping hand. Over one-fourth of survey respondents noted that they are regularly using vibrating devices.

Slippery Slope: Millennials are using lubricants more now than they did in past years, with 43 percent reporting lubricant usage as part of their sexual routine.

The 2015 SKYN Condoms Millennial Sex Survey reveals the habits, preferences and desires of sexually active millennials across the U.S., including information about favorite positions, preferred partner attributes, likely locations for sex, online and mobile dating trends, and much more. Additional findings include:

V-Card: Millennials are losing their virginity at a younger age. Eighty-three percent of 18-24 year olds are losing their virginity by age 18 compared to 72 percent of 25-29 year olds and 73 percent of 30-34 year olds.

Naughty Behavior: Millennials have found new ways to engage in sexual behavior on their mobile phones. A staggering 57 percent of millennials report having sexted, with 7 percent sexting daily and 11 percent sexting several times per week. Also, 49 percent of millennials send naked pictures on their mobile phones, with 25 percent specifically sending pictures via Snapchat.

Save A Horse: Doggy style is a millennial's favorite sexual position, closely followed by missionary and cowgirl. Men prefer doggy style whereas women prefer missionary.

Sex Ed: The higher the level of education completed, the more condoms are being used. Sixty-six percent of millennials with a Doctoral degree and 65 percent of those with a Professional degree reported using condoms, compared to 44 percent of those with a high school diploma. Notably, 58 percent of millennials currently enrolled at a university report using condoms.

Sex vs. Tech: A staggering 37 percent of millennials claim they would give up sex for a year rather than give up the Internet.

Celebrity Hall Pass: Adam Levine and Megan Fox are the celebrities that millennials would most want to have sex with. For women, a close second was Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Gosling, and for men, Scarlett Johansson and Emma Watson.

Surf's Up: Of respondents that participate in a variety of sports and recreational activities, those that identified as surfers tend to play it the safest outside of the water, with 75 percent reporting they use condoms regularly.

Birthday Sex: Birthdays are the occasion marked with the most sex with a reported 79 percent of millennials having sex on a birthday followed by Valentine's Day with 73 percent.

Survey Methodology

Conducted by AMP Agency on behalf of LifeStyles and SKYN Condoms, the survey targeted males and females between 18 – 34 years of age, of all sexuality and relationship types, who were sexually active in the last year. The survey was conducted in March 2015. A total of 5117 respondents answered 69 questions and completed the survey in 15-20 minutes. The margin of error (MOE) for all respondents is +/-1.37% at a 95 percent confidence interval based on the principals of probability sampling theory reaching a nationally representative sample of the United States.
