Academy Sports + Outdoors Names Sam Johnson Executive Vice President, Retail Operations

KATY, Texas, April 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Academy, Ltd. d/b/a Academy Sports + Outdoors ("Academy"), a premier sports, outdoor and lifestyle retailer, appointed Sam Johnson as its Executive Vice President of Retail Operations, effective April 24, 2017.

Sam, 50, joins Academy after seven years with hhgregg, Inc. ("hhgregg") where he most recently served as Chief Retail Officer. At hhgregg, Sam led store operations, customer relations, commercial sales, real estate and visual merchandising. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years in various leadership roles with Sears Holding Corporation. He has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Health from East Tennessee State University.
