The latest diabetes statistics indicate that more than 8 million American adults have diabetes and don't know it. Another 86 million American adults—more than one in three—have prediabetes, which means that their blood glucose (sugar) is higher than normal, yet not high enough to meet the criteria for diabetes. These statistics demonstrate a critical need for Americans to be informed about their health status and risks for type 2 diabetes.
The Diabetes Risk Test is available on the Association's website and in a printed version for health care providers and the public. Availability via Pursuant Health's interactive kiosk platform will reach new audiences who are potentially at high-risk for diabetes. Pursuant has kiosks conveniently located in retail pharmacies within 10 miles of 79 percent of the U.S. population, enabling the Diabetes Risk Test to expand its reach and touch more lives.
"Adding the American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Risk Test to the kiosk's collection of clinically valid health resources is an exciting milestone for Pursuant Health as the Company continues to strive for improved public health outcomes," said Ryan Sloan, Chief Marketing Officer of Pursuant Health. "Through this collaboration, the American Diabetes Association and Pursuant Health hope to make a profound and meaningful impact that may ultimately help the millions of at-risk individuals across the country."
About Pursuant Health (formerly SoloHealth): Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Pursuant Health's purpose is to engage individuals to manage their health and improve outcomes. In summer 2010, the Company received a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to help develop a self-service health kiosk. Pursuant Health's national kiosk network now consists of over 3,600 FDA-cleared, HIPAA-compliant self-service kiosks accessibly located in retail pharmacies across the country. The platform provides free biometric screenings (weight, blood pressure, BMI and pulse) as well as an assortment of clinically valid health questionnaires (including an NCQA-certified health risk assessment) that can be completed in a matter of minutes on the kiosk's touchscreen interface. All of these health resources are bilingual and designed to accommodate a 5th grade reading level to ensure usability across all demographics.
