Anchor Bay's Box-Office Hit 'Law Abiding Citizen' Captures Top Spots on Video Charts

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Law Abiding Citizen, the $73 million theatrical powerhouse starring Gerard Butler and Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx, continued its winning streak from the silver screen to the small screen this week, as it beat all new video titles streeting this week to become the #1 home entertainment release for both sell-through and rentals.  The riveting psychological thriller, released theatrically last year by Overture Films, follows Clyde Shelton (Butler), a seemingly ordinary crime victim and Nick Rice (Foxx), a Philadelphia prosecutor, as they play a deadly cat and mouse game between a man bent on revenge and a justice system powerless to stop him. The announcement was made by Bill Clark, President, Anchor Bay Entertainment.

In the film, Shelton is an upstanding family man whose life is forever changed by the brutal murder of his wife and daughter during a home invasion.  When the killers are caught, Nick is assigned to prosecute the case.  He offers one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice.  Ten years later, the man who got away with murder is found dead and Shelton coolly admits his guilt, at the same time issuing a warning to Nick: Either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family, or key players in the trial will die...
