LOS ALTOS, Calif., Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- AR glasses pioneer meta (https://www.spaceglasses.com/) today announced that the company sold over 700 pairs of glasses to developers and reached $500K in total sales on their first week of launch. There are currently 300 pairs of glasses left to buy on their first round of shipment.
The company also announced SpaceApps, the company's official app store.
Celebrating the app store launch on Tuesday, August 20th at noon PDT the company will offer a 24 hour special sale during which they will offer their glasses for $490 only. The developers are invited to the store to list their applications and the best app ideas will be funded by meta and will get full time support accompanied by meta's tech team.

meta was founded by Meron Gribetz in December 2012, aided by the expertise of Professor Steven Feiner, who has many world firsts in augmented reality to his name and Professor Steve Mann, the father of wearable computing. Gribetz created several prototypes beginning in mid 2011 and finalized the first developer kit in October 2012. In total meta has 15 graduate and undergraduate students, primarily from Columbia University, contributing to the project. meta knows natural computation is the future, and will bring a sleek, intuitive, and non-intrusive user experience to the world.
