Batten Down The Hatches -- Talisker Storm™ Arrives in the United States Rugged New Single Malt Becomes Permanent Member of Talisker's U.S. Scotch Whisky Portfolio
NEW YORK, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Talisker Storm has landed stateside. Talisker, the single malt made by the sea on the Isle of Skye, expands its offerings with the introduction of Talisker Storm. This October, the rugged new expression will be a permanent addition to the current core range of Talisker single malt Scotch whiskies in the United States.
Created to delight and intrigue adorers of the celebrated island whisky, Talisker Storm is more intense and smoky, with enhanced maritime notes that smoothly balance Talisker's signature warm sweetness. This unique expression does not have an age statement. The Master Blender crafts the liquid from both rejuvenated and refill casks at different ages to enhance the vibrant, smoky and intense distillery character in the expression. This approach results in a blend that offers consumers of legal drinking age a lively new flavor dimension to enjoy responsibly.
"Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. We were inspired to craft an expression as unique as the dramatic terrain of the island from where it hails," said Diageo Master Blender Jim Beveridge. "Without the constraints of an age statement, we've been able to blend a range of exceptional whiskies together in one vibrant dram."
Each whisky in Talisker Storm has matured in oak casks for a minimum of three years and, once matured, is blended together to deliver the final product. By removing the age restrictions for Talisker Storm, the Master Blender has full access to the distillery's exceptional whiskies, providing greater flexibility to introduce a range of flavors to the final product based on the maturity, rather than age.
"Talisker Storm is an exciting, bold expression of Talisker that captures the essence of the island where it was born," said Brian Radics, Director of Scotch Whisky, Diageo. "With growing consumer interest in the craft of brown spirits, we are proud to offer new innovations, like Talisker Storm, that push the envelope with intense flavors sure to exhilarate single malt fans."
Talisker Storm is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of distilled water to unlock the elegant balance of sweetness, smoke and salt evident through the warm finish. The product will be available nationwide this October with a suggested retail price of $66 (750ml). For more information, please visit www.malts.com.
The makers of Talisker remind you to enjoy the storm while sipping responsibly.
Talisker speaks of the rugged, windblown beauty of its home by the wild seas on the Isle of Skye. The powerful whisky has been adored by many for its sea-salty nose, peaty, smoky character and peppery finish, since 1830. The maritime influence of Talisker has led to close links with challenges on the water, including the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the world's toughest rowing race, which will see crews from around the world row from the Canary Islands to Antigua in December 2013. Talisker 10 year old and Storm are widely distributed while Talisker 18 year old, Distillers Edition and more limited and older expressions can be found in specialist stores.
