NEW YORK and MOSCOW, Feb. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In preparation for Valentine's Day this year, many guys all over the country are busy making fancy dinner reservations and buying bouquets of flowers for their significant others (or significant hopefuls!). However, other men are turning to online dating for a little excitement during the commercial holiday. But what are guys really looking for online this Valentine's Day – real, lasting love or a temporary fling?

According to a recent survey of online dating habits by Harris Interactive in conjunction with international online dating website AnastasiaDate, 70 percent of online dating friendly men aged 35+* are looking for a serious relationship online. What's more is that 39 percent of these men claim that they can fall for a woman before meeting her in person.
Think that all men are dogs? Sixty-four percent said that they don't need to be physical with a woman to fall in love. And two out of three men said that they can fall in love before even having sex, demonstrating that some guys really are true romantics at heart.
But where there are nice guys, there are also naughty ones: 30 percent of these men use online dating sites to get lucky, with their main goal being to find someone to have sex with. Additionally, 27 percent said that they are looking for "interesting and exotic experiences" through online dating, and 65 percent of men said that they like to share juicy details of their dates with friends (men are big gossips, especially when it comes to their love lives).
"As we get closer to Valentine's Day, it's clear that American guys differ in what they want to find this year," said Lawrence Cervantes, Chief Communications Officer for AnastasiaDate. "Whether men want a serious, meaningful relationship or fun, casual hookup, online dating still offers them a chance to meet women they never would have met otherwise, some of whom are from other parts of the country and all over the world. This online dating survey was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of AnastasiaDate between July 30 and August 8, 2013, among 503 U.S. males aged 35 to 55 with a household income of $100K or more, an associate's degree or more education and an interest in women (among whom 208 have dated online or would be open to doing so).
