WASHINGTON, May 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bundled payment initiatives are making headway in the U.S. as a key payment approach to improve health care quality and lower costs. Sharing successful strategies for how to best engage consumers in bundled payment initiatives, data and analytics, risk arrangements, and transparency implementing contracts for high-cost procedures and conditions, will be among the areas of focus at the Fifth National Bundled Payment Summit.
Being held June 3-5 in Washington, this year features two pre-conference sessions, four afternoon track sessions and is also available via live webcast. It also includes the first Innovation Showcase, which features vendors focused on supporting payers or providers as well as researchers exploring the effects of bundled payment initiatives.
"As bundled payments move from pilots to full-blown implementations and from a payer-led initiative to a payer-provider collaboration, providers are often taking the lead," said Francois de Brantes, executive director of the Health Care Incentives Improvement Institute (HCI3), the Summit's lead sponsor. "While bundled payments are proliferating, there continues to be much experimentation in defining the boundaries of episodes and the implications on financial risk. The Summit will address these issues with presentations from national, state and local leaders engaged in implementing payment and delivery system reform. This event offers high content and a learning experience so everyone can get smarter, faster, on what works."
Keynote speakers:
- Jason Helgerson, MPP, State Medicaid Director, Deputy Commissioner, State of New York, Department of Health
- Rahul Rajkumar, MD, JD, Acting Deputy Director, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services
- Earl P. Steinberg, MD, MPP, CEO, xG Health Solutions, EVP of Innovation & Dissemination, Geisinger Health System
