FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Jan. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bureau Veritas is pleased to announce that it has been selected to act as Compliance Manager by the Department of Interior – Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the Ivanpah Solar Power Complex Project. Owned by BrightSource Energy, the Ivanpah Complex will be the largest in the world once it is completed in mid-2012.

"This project is a great step in the move toward renewable, environmentally-friendly power solutions for California," said Kevin Wedman, Vice President of Power and Utilities for Bureau Veritas.  "We are always excited to participate in a project that provides viable energy sources for today and the future."

The Ivanpah Solar Power Complex Project is one of 34 fast track projects that are being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to help the Obama Administration to achieve its initiative of making a rapid & responsible move to large-scale production of renewable energy on publically owned lands.

As Compliance Manager, Bureau Veritas will ensure that the project adheres to construction and environmental requirements during the construction phase of the Ivanpah Complex.  In addition, Bureau Veritas' role as Compliance Manager for the BLM will involve working with other agencies in the environmental compliance monitoring program (e.g. the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Game, etc.) to the extent requested by those agencies and authorized by the BLM.

Bureau Veritas was also chosen by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to act as the Delegate Chief Building Official (DCBO) for the Ivanpah project. This is the first time that a single entity has been chosen to perform dual agency reporting by the BLM and CEC.
