CAPS TV Ad Asks Florida If Adding 33 Million More Foreign Workers And $6.3 Trillion In Welfare For Illegal Aliens Is Their Idea Of Immigration Reform

TAMPA, Fla., May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) has launched TV ads in the state of Florida calling attention to the impact the Senate immigration reform bill will have on Florida residents.  The bill is sponsored by Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who has become the public spokesperson for the bill.  Rubio has been promoting the bill in TV ads funded by special interest groups that want to bring in more cheap labor. 

"When you have to run ads to sell Americans on your bill, you know there's a problem," commented CAPS Executive Director Jo Wideman.  "Worse, the ads he's running are funded by special interests and are completely deceptive."

Rubio's immigration reform bill is based on the premise that there's a labor shortage in America.  But there are still 20 million Americans looking for work, more than 1 million in his own state.  Rubio's ad says his bill will secure the borders.  What he doesn't tell viewers is that will only happen if Congress approves funding to secure the borders.  That never happened after the 1986 amnesty.  Most of the same enforcement provisions in Rubio's bill were also in the 1986 amnesty bill and were never enacted.  Rubio says there are no giveaways in the bill but the Heritage Foundation estimates it will cost taxpayers more than $6.3 trillion dollars in welfare, social security and entitlements.   Rubio also neglects to mention in his ad that his bill will give work permits to 33 million more foreign job seekers in just the next ten years, doubling immigration. 

"The list of deceptions in his ad go on and on.  I know the Senator is only a freshman but that's no excuse for not understanding the actual impact of his own legislation," commented Jo Wideman, Executive Director of Californians for Population Stabilization.
