car2go Kicks Off 2015 With A Bang With Over 20,000 car2go Members In The Twin Cities

TWIN CITIES, Minn., Jan. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- car2go N.A. LLC, the largest carsharing company in the world, announced today that it has surpassed the 20,000 member milestone in the Twin Cities.  car2go Twin Cities has seen nearly 230,000 car2go trips since its initial launch in Minneapolis in September 2013, and expansion to St. Paul in July 2014.

Since its launch, the car2go Home Area has expanded to 107 square miles and 535 car2go smart vehicles with access to nearly 30 car2go designated parking spaces across Minneapolis and St. Paul, providing members the flexibility to get to their destinations at their convenience.  Complementary to existing public transportation, car2go recently partnered with Metro Transit to secure dedicated parking spaces at three METRO Blue Line stations – Lake Street, 46^th Street, and Fort Snelling – for multi-modal car2go members.

In November 2014, car2go introduced Mobile Access, an upgraded app feature in its iOS and Android applications that allows members to not only search for and reserve a car2go vehicle, but begin their car2go trip via their smartphones.  Mobile Access has served as an alternative to the company's member card, which had previously been the only way to access a car2go vehicle and end a ride.
