Carbonite Server Backup Proven More than Twice As Fast As Leading Competitors

Carbonite Server Backup Beats Mozy Pro, CrashPlan Pro and SOS Online Backup in Third-Party Upload and Restore Speed Tests

Dec 03, 2013, 09:00 ET from Carbonite, Inc.

BOSTON, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Carbonite, Inc. (NASDAQ: CARB), a leading provider of cloud solutions that keep small businesses and home offices running smoothly, today announced results of a third-party test that found Carbonite Server backup backs up and restores data more than twice as fast as its competitors. The results of the test, commissioned by Carbonite and conducted by The Tolly Group, compare the backup and restore speeds of Carbonite Server backup, Mozy Pro, CrashPlan Pro and SOS Online Backup.

"Data backup and restore speed are critical to small businesses. Businesses want to get their data backed up quickly so they can focus on running and growing their business, and they need to experience as little downtime as possible in the event of data loss," said David Friend, Chairman and CEO, Carbonite. "We've thought for a while that Carbonite Server backup is the industry leader in speed, and the third party tests confirm that Carbonite Server backup led the pack. Carbonite's server backup solutions back up data 2.4 times faster than our nearest competitor, and restores data 29 times faster than the slowest competitor."

In order to test Carbonite Server backup against Mozy Pro, CrashPlan Pro and SOS Online Backup, The Tolly Group ran tests using a 54.6GB dataset that included multimedia, office documents, compressed archives, web server data, and system files and applications. Carbonite Server backed up and restored the data faster than all other vendors tested. Carbonite's speed advantage in the backup tests ranged from 2.4 to 12.5 times faster, and restore speeds were 3.1 to 29 times faster than competitors.
