Chevron Energy Solutions, Oceanic Time Warner Cable, Tioga Energy Announce Largest Solar Canopy Project on Oahu

HONOLULU, Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevron Energy Solutions, a unit of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), Oceanic Time Warner Cable and Tioga Energy announced today the groundbreaking for a 856-kilowatt solar system at Oceanic's Mililani Tech Park. The project is the largest solar canopy project on Oahu.

Chevron Energy Solutions designed, engineered and will construct the solar project that includes solar photovoltaic panels on two buildings and parking canopies. Tioga Energy will finance, own and operate the system, selling the generated electricity to Oceanic Time Warner Cable over the next 20 years.

By reducing the purchase of utility power, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions equivalent to the carbon sequestered annually by more than 225 acres of trees. Under the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, the state is transforming 70 percent of its power to clean energy by 2030.  The rooftop solar installation on Oceanic's new annex building at Mililani Tech Park is expected to help the company achieve LEED Gold for this building. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011.
