Chinese Astrology Charms Believed to Bring Prosperity in 2012
LOS ALTOS, Calif., Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Are you ready to start the New Year with a dose of extra luck? Celebrate an ancient Chinese folk custom beginning Lunar New Year's Eve on January 23, 2012.
This Chinese tradition, which involves wearing or displaying Chinese astrological animal charms that bring luck and prosperity, commemorates the Chinese New Year, a two-week long celebration that ends with the Lantern Festival on Feb. 6, 2012.
According to Feng Shui expert Marina Lighthouse, the Chinese Zodiac has 12 animal signs, each a different character and significance. Her new eBook, Chinese Astrology Predictions and Feng Shui for 2012, gives readers detailed adjustments for the year ahead. Unlike Western astrology, Chinese astrology is based on birth year, not birth month. Moreover, its focus is on the concept of fate and then works towards "cures" to change the most probable fate.

"In the custom, you should get a new charm every year to symbolize a fresh start and new opportunities," Lighthouse said. The Lunar New Year, starting Jan. 23, is the year of the Water Dragon, and the lucky animal to wear is the Rooster, since it is the Dragon's best friend. Lighthouse furthered that this charm should be carried until February 9, 2013.
"This will be an exciting and challenging year, which is a welcome change for those looking for new growth and opportunity after the cautious year of the Rabbit," Lighthouse said.
"However, there will still be many ups and downs throughout, so it is recommended that people implement special Feng Shui cures and enhancers to avoid problems in 2012," Lighthouse added.
There are several animals that are universal for good luck. Lighthouse offered more advice and mentioned that people wanting to start a business should consider carrying a horse charm. For more abundance in life, individuals may choose to carry a pig charm, while a dragon is recommended for safety during travel.
