City of Richmond Receives Multiple Recognitions for CommonCents Initiative Built on Metastorm BPM Software

BALTIMORE, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Metastorm a leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM), Business Process Analysis (BPA), and Enterprise Architecture (EA) software for aligning strategy with execution, today announced that the City of Richmond, Virginia's CommonCents – Employee Budget Feedback Process, which was deployed using the Metastorm BPM® software suite, has received the Digital Government Achievement Award and received honorable mention in the Governor's Technology Award.  

The Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) recognizes the top 50 outstanding agency and department websites and projects at the application and infrastructure level. The Governor's Technology Award honors outstanding achievements and recognizes innovative technology initiatives in the public sector throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The CommonCents initiative was developed using Metastorm BPM and designed to increase government efficiencies by including employee feedback in addressing budget shortfalls in fiscal year 2010 and 2011. Within a two-week period, the Department of Information Technology was able to deploy a web-based application that gives City of Richmond employees at all levels the opportunity to submit feedback and cost-saving ideas to improve budget problems.

Using the CommonCents platform, users are able to conveniently track the status of their suggestions using generated to-do lists and email notifications, as well as analyze the cost savings achieved by individual departments. Since implementing the CommonCents platform, the City of Richmond has documented over $2 million in savings.  

Employees whose cost savings ideas had an immediate impact were recognized at a reception in their honor with City of Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones.
