SANDUSKY, Ohio, June 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Civista Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: CIVB) ("Civista") was added as a member of the Russell 2000® Index, effective after the US market opened on June 26, as part of the 2017 Russell indexes reconstitution. Membership in the Russell 2000® Index, which remains in place for one year, is based on membership in the broad-market Russell 3000® Index. The stock also was automatically added to the appropriate growth and value indexes.
"Our addition to the Russell 2000® Index is a direct result of the strategic decisions we have made over the past few years. Our market capitalization has increased from $40.5 million on December 31, 2012 to $199.1 million on June 23, 2017," commented James O. Miller, Chairman, President and CEO. "The addition to the Russell 2000® Index will allow for more trading liquidity in our stock. Liquidity is an important consideration for many investors as they review alternatives. We believe the increased liquidity in our stock may tend to more investor visibility and potentially a higher valuation. It may also make our stock a more attractive currency in potential acquisitions."
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies. Approximately $8.4 trillion in assets are benchmarked against Russell's US indexes. Russell indexes are part of FTSE Russell, a leading global index provider.
