The first pediatric weight management pilot was at University of Michigan's adolescent weight management center.
The length of the pediatric telehealth weight management will be 12 weeks with patients that are 8 years or older who are at risk of becoming or are overweight as diagnosed by a RDN. Patients who agree to participate will have a baseline nutrition visit where specific and measurable food goals will be identified. Body composition will be measured using a Tanita ®scale and resting energy expenditure will be measured using Medgem® device. A goal sheet will be developed and given to the patient and goals will be tracked via the Fruit Street platform.
Additionally, telehealth consultations will be conducted between the patient and RDN via the Fruit Street platform.
This announcement continues to build on the recent momentum that Fruit Street has generated as an innovator in the telehealth space. Most recently, Fruit Street announced a $4 million round of Series A financing from 60 new and current physician investors, bringing the total number of physicians who have invested in the company to 160. Fruit Street now has an international footprint with customers and investors in the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Ireland, Mexico, and England.
