The startup, founded by serial entrepreneurs Barbara and Stephen Hart, differentiates itself from the crowded cupcake space by letting customers personalize their own cupcake creations for on-site gratification as well as local or national delivery for special occasions, holidays and corporate meetings and events.

Barbara's lineage is linked to baking royalty. Her grandfather, Abe Sherwin, founded the Sherwin Baking Company in Ohio in 1919.  Abe's bakery and catering business, which was run alongside Barbara's father, Sol, and his three brothers, enjoyed immense popularity in the Cleveland area throughout the 20th Century. She combined her years of working experiences, including working in Stephen's manufacturing business, and applied the concept of subassemblies to baked goods, thus conceiving the idea for Create Your Cupcake. That led her to develop an innovative, patent-pending baking method which produces cupcakes with hollowed out centers. Customers can then choose in real-time to fill their personalized cupcakes with special, custard-based fillings known as Cremache®. Create Your Cupcake also allows customers to select their type of cake, frosting and toppings to suit their individual tastes.

Barbara, who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2004, also designed the bakery to include separate gluten and gluten-free bakery facilities. That allows those with Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance to enjoy their offerings without fear of cross-contamination.

Grand Opening to Take Place on April 13

Create Your Cupcake will celebrate its official grand opening on Wednesday, April 13 at its Sandy Springs location at 203 Hilderbrand Drive. The grand opening event will include complimentary cupcake tastings, tours of the bakery, giveaways and an official ribbon cutting by the Sandy Springs Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place between 3:00-5:00 p.m. and is open to the public.
