BOSTON, June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Detwiler Fenton (DFG), a growth-oriented investment firm, announced the formation of an investment banking group with the addition of three bankers to pursue new business opportunities.
"Patrick Daly, David Walters and Mario Shane bring close to 95 years of investment banking experience and complement our existing Capital Markets and Investment Management businesses," according to Peter Fenton, CEO of DFG. "Adding this team of experienced investment bankers underscores our commitment to pursue opportunities in corporate finance and the synergies we see across the firm's various business units." The group will primarily focus on four research-backed verticals in Technology, Telecommunications, Consumer and Renewable Energy. Patrick A. Daly, Managing Director is focused on financial advisory and capital raising activities across a spectrum of industries. Prior to Detwiler, he was a Managing Director at Monarch Bay Securities. In addition to his investment banking experience he was CEO and CFO of a renewable energy development and construction firm focused on solar power development. His experience includes banking roles at Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers, Kidder Peabody, Merrill Lynch and Drexel Burnham Lambert, where he focused on strategic advisory and capital raising for the Energy and Renewables, Financial Services, Aerospace & Defense, Global Security, Airline and Technology industries, globally. Mr. Daly has dual citizenship in both the U.S. and EU, graduated with a B.A. (cum laude) from Harvard University and holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
David A. Walters has joined as a Managing Director, prior to which he co-founded Monarch Bay Securities, a FINRA member broker dealer that grew out of Monarch Bay Capital Group, where Walters was a Principal. Prior to this, Mr. Walters was EVP and Managing Director in charge of Capital Markets for Roth Capital as well as a member of the Board. He was instrumental in building the company's business and managed the Capital Markets group through over 100 public offerings. In addition to Investment Banking activities, Walters was responsible for the syndication, distribution and after-market trading of the public offerings. Prior to this, he worked in investment banking for both Drexel Burnham Lambert and Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette in LA and also ran a private equity investment fund. Mr. Walters earned a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego.
Mario B. Shane has joined as a Managing Director, prior to which he was Managing Director at Monarch Bay Securities, LLC in Newport Beach, CA. Mr. Shane has over 25 years of financial advisory experience. He was Sr. Vice President and Director of Research Sales for Capital Institutional Services in Dallas. He conducted private equity transactions and capital market activities for Hoak Breedlove, in Dallas and independently in Silicon Valley, CA. Mr. Shane has also provided research on various industries including Oil & Gas, Digital Media, Telecommunications, Broadband, B2B, Enterprise Software, Business Services and Consumer. He has completed a number of IPO's, secondary offerings and private placements, has a BA from Stanford University and is member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
John A. Doane is a Managing Director and joined Detwiler Fenton in 2008. He is responsible for raising equity and debt for client companies in the Real Estate, Energy, Oil & Gas industries as well as other special situations. Prior to joining Detwiler Fenton, John spent 8 years with StoneGate Partners, a broker dealer, as Vice President in Equity Distribution. Focused on partnership transactions in the Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors as well as raising equity capital for Technology and Life Science companies. Prior to joining StoneGate, John spent 15 years in executive search with Resources Objectives Inc. completing many high-level searches for Investment Banking, Private Equity and Venture Capital clients. John earned a BS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
