Distinc.tt, Only Gay App Approved In The iTunes Store For Ages 12 And Up

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Incubated at Harvard Business School, and Stanford's prestigious StartX, Distinc.tt, launching in public beta today, is a new kind of social network for the LGBT community that focuses on social interaction and discovery rather than sex. Distinc.tt uses real-time collective knowledge to connect trendsetting crowds and travelers to the places and people that best reflect their distinct interests. With an emphasis on real identities and good taste, Distinc.tt sleekly leads users to the event, restaurant, party, or vacation spot most interesting to them. In addition to seeing friends or new people nearby, members can view the places and events where users currently are, and where they plan go to in the future.

Distinc.tt will officially launch mid January with a Gay Taste Food Initiative to emphasize its commitment to taste and style. It will include the naming and creation of the first LGBT sandwich, the launch of a Gay Dessert contest open to the public, and a debate and discussion with culinary and food industry leaders and chefs regarding the gay influence in food and restaurant culture. 

A Distinc.tt app that had been used in earlier testing has been unavailable since June 2013 while the management team revamped capabilities and obtained additional investment from angels and supporters, including Paypal founders, Peter Thiel and Keith Rabois. The new app raises the bar on solutions for one of the highest spending niches and the one with the most trend setting power.
