eCareSoft Embeds the First Task-Oriented eLearning Into Its EHR Application for Small Hospitals
AUSTIN, Texas, May 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- eCareSoft announced today the release of the first task-oriented eLearning embedded into an electronic health records (EHR) application. Incorporating embedded eLearning within the eCareSoft's EHR application ensures relevant, "just-in-time" delivery of task-oriented tutorials and learning resources to hospital staff as they progress through their daily workflow. The power of this learning delivery method is the tremendous flexibility it affords the user, the cross-sharing of knowledge through the system's collaborative feature, and the potential to reduce staff adoption hurdles. Users can solve task-oriented problems autonomously and competently.
"Our initial idea of embedding eLearning within the application was to reduce adoption hurdles that are inherent to any new software," stated Deborah Kaufman, COO of eCareSoft. "What we discovered was a powerful, informal learning environment where learning occurs as a byproduct of interacting with the system," added Kaufman.
Statistics show that between 60 to 80 percent of workplace learning occurs outside of traditional training environments. Many learning events occur informally by chatting with co-workers. With eCareSoft's enhanced EHR, hospital employees can quickly access the system's collaborative feature from any point within the application and share ideas, workflow shortcuts and workarounds with their peers for continuous performance improvement. They can even share feedback regarding the application with eCareSoft's support team.
eCareSoft's solution is an ONC-ATCB Certified Complete Inpatient EHR solution designed to help small to mid-size hospital groups achieve American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 'meaningful use' stimulus reimbursement quickly and affordably. The system provides connectivity of disparate clinical systems and a shared electronic health records database creating a community of care network that fosters physician collaboration, quality measures, and evidenced-based guidelines.
