EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care Opens in Chinatown

NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EmblemHealth, the New York-based health insurer and wellness company, has opened its third EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care, an inviting place where the community is welcomed to meet face-to-face with EmblemHealth professionals to ask questions, get reliable information and solve problems. The newest EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care is located at 87 Bowery in Manhattan's Chinatown.

EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care integrates company resources with those of the community to help members and non-members get the most from their health care and stay healthier. By understanding their lives, linking them to resources, and simplifying the process to help them navigate the health care system, EmblemHealth is able to identify and eliminate barriers to treatment. Bringing Care Closer to the Community

The goal of EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care is to offer support and personal attention from benefit experts and health care professionals to help EmblemHealth members navigate the health care system and improve health outcomes. At no cost to members, EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care staff will:

• Find in-network treatment options;
• Connect members with the appropriate community resources; 
• Assist with enrollment in government programs;
• Help solve billing issues; and
• Identify appropriate health and wellness programs.

EmblemHealth Neighborhood Care also offers members and neighborhood residents access to community meeting spaces, educational materials and lectures, and health screenings such as blood pressure and body mass index. Interactive technology will provide guests with wellness information to help assess health risks and make informed choices.

Chinatown residents are invited to take a tour of Neighborhood Care. While there, residents can take an immediate health risk assessment, link to community-based services, use the health and wellness library, and attend classes on caregiving, nutrition, diabetes, Medicare and more.
