SAN FRANCISCO, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Esurance, the direct-to-consumer insurance company, just announced that it ranked #19 on this year's InformationWeek Elite 100, which is a list of the top business technology innovators in the U.S.
This year, Esurance ranked the highest among all property and casualty insurance companies. The company has steadily moved up in the rankings since 2011, thanks to a relentless focus on providing consumers with innovative technology and one-of-a-kind tools that best serve the insurance needs of self-directed consumers.
"I'm pleased that we were first among all property and casualty insurance companies in the InformationWeek Elite 100," said Esurance CEO Gary Tolman. "This ranking is a testament to all the great work of our associates who develop and deliver innovative technology that truly embodies insurance for the modern world."
Instrumental to Esurance's ranking on the 2014 list is video appraisal, an innovative new feature on Esurance Mobile that helps customers settle their claims faster through their smartphones.* Customers can video chat with a claims expert, who then assesses the vehicle damage and can provide payment on the spot.
Video appraisal is the latest tool from Esurance that helps consumers recover more quickly if something happens to their car, and augments the company's photo claims and RepairView® offerings on the Esurance app.
"Video appraisal is a faster, smarter way for handling claims, and it uses technology that most people have right in their pocket — their smartphones," said Esurance Chief Information Officer Elinor MacKinnon. "It also allows us to maintain a human touch, which is critical in providing a positive claims experience for our customers."
Esurance was also ranked on the InformationWeek 500 in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
