Findlay Sports & Entertainment withdraws bid for Major League Soccer expansion franchise
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Following today's decision by The City of Las Vegas to discontinue pursuing a downtown stadium, it is with great disappointment that Findlay Sports & Entertainment announces they will withdraw their bid for a Major League Soccer expansion franchise.
"We have worked tirelessly to bring this project to fruition," said Justin Findlay, managing partner of Findlay Sports & Entertainment. "While we still feel strongly about the positive impact Major League Soccer would have on the Las Vegas community, at this time we will no longer pursue this project."
Findlay Sports & Entertainment would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayor Carolyn Goodman, the City of Las Vegas Council members, City Manager Betsy Fretwell and the entire City of Las Vegas staff who have worked diligently on this project. We also thank our development partners The Cordish Companies and everyone associated with them.
"We would also like to thank the team at Major League Soccer," said Findlay. "Of course our biggest regret is to the residents of Southern Nevada, including all the local soccer fans, who have encouraged us throughout this venture."
