Fuel Your School: Fill Up at Chevron and Texaco Gas Stations to Help Drive Up To $1 Million to Local Public Schools

SAN RAMON, Calif., Sept. 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Following a highly successful launch in 2010, Chevron and DonorsChoose.org today are announcing the kickoff of the second Fuel Your School campaign. During October, consumers in Alameda and Contra Costa counties will once again have the opportunity to generate up to $1 million in funds for classroom projects in local public schools.

Consumers can help generate funding for local public schools in Alameda and Contra Costa counties by simply filling up at participating stations from October 1 through October 31. For every eight or more gallons of fuel purchased, Chevron will donate $1 to help fund classroom projects. Last year, the Fuel Your School campaign donated more than $850,000, providing public schools with resources and tools for education.

Educators at approximately 640 eligible public schools in Alameda and Contra Costa counties will have the opportunity to apply for new materials to enhance learning in their classrooms through Fuel Your School. By visiting www.FuelYourSchool.com, community members can track how much money is being raised in their city, as well as see funded projects and feedback from educators.

Chevron's Fuel Your School campaign is part of the company's global Energy for Learning Initiative, in which the company partners with local communities, governments and non-profit groups to expand learning opportunities and support the development of the social and economic vitality of these communities.

Eligible public and charter school educators from Alameda and Contra Costa counties are encouraged to post eligible classroom projects at DonorsChoose.org. Chevron contributions help fund classroom projects, including science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) related projects, among others, as part of the Fuel Your School campaign.
