MEXICO CITY, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Grupo Salinas, a group of dynamic, fast-growing and technologically advanced companies deeply committed to the modernization of the countries in which they operate —founded by Ricardo Salinas (www.ricardosalinas.com)— is proud to announce the 2010 winners of the Caminos de la Libertad para Jovenes multimedia contest to promote basic personal freedoms. The contest is open to participants of 15 – 25 years, with the number of entries almost doubling since the first event last year to over 4,500 contestants.
Categories included: Music, Video, Fine Art, Graphic Art, Essay, Poetry and Narrative and even the design of a Converse shoe.
"Freedom gives us dignity as humans and makes us more prosperous as a society," said Grupo Salinas founder and Chairman Ricardo Salinas during the awards ceremony, which was held last week in Mexico City.
"One of the lessons I have learned this year is that we don't understand the importance of something, a person, a virtue while we have it. It's the absence that makes us appreciate its value," said Sergio Sarmiento, President of Caminos de la Libertad. "Freedom is something we must fight for every day."
Winners were awarded Ps$50,000, Ps$30,000 and Ps$15,000 for first through third places, respectively, in eight categories.
