Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson to Host Weekly All-Sports Show on SiriusXM

NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary Hall of Fame baseball player Reggie Jackson has joined SiriusXM to host a new live weekly all-sports talk show that will be heard by listeners nationwide.  The opinionated slugger will host Swing Away with Reggie Jackson every Saturday (11:00 am – 12:00 pm ET/8:00 – 9:00 am PT) exclusively on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio (channel 82), starting September 15.

Fueled by his love of all sports, Jackson will cover a broad spectrum of sports topics on Swing Away, and he will be joined regularly by well-known athletes and celebrities on his program, where they will discuss the headline news in baseball, football, basketball, golf and much more.

Nicknamed Mr. October for his clutch playoff hitting, Jackson helped win three consecutive World Series titles with the Oakland Athletics in the early 1970s and two World Series with the New York Yankees in 1977 and 1978. 

Growing up outside of Philadelphia, Reggie excelled at baseball, football, basketball and track & field.  For his talents on the football field specifically, he was recruited by several college football powerhouses and ultimately accepted a scholarship to play football at Arizona State University.  Once at ASU, he asked to join the baseball team, and was so impressive at the plate and in the field that he switched permanently to baseball following his freshman year and would go on to achieve a record-setting All-American career with the Sun Devils.

Jackson became the second overall pick in the 1966 Major League baseball draft and embarked on an extraordinary major league career that spanned 21 seasons and saw him star for four teams (Athletics, Orioles, Yankees and Angels).  He finished with 563 home runs and 14 All-Star appearances and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1993.  That same year, Jackson's #44 was retired by the Yankees.  In 2004, the Oakland Athletics retired the #9 he wore for their franchise.  He is one of only eight Major Leaguers to have their number retired by more than one team. 

This is Jackson's second time hosting a show on Mad Dog Sports Radio.  In 2009, Reggie hosted October Nights, a six week series on the channel that focused on the MLB postseason.
