Hospitals Recognized by Women as Most Recommended in America

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Women's Choice Award is pleased to announce the 2014 America's Best Hospitals for Patient Experience.  This award is the only distinction that identifies the country's best hospitals based on robust criteria regarding patient satisfaction and what women say they want from a hospital.

The award scoring process is unique for it is the only national list focused on female patient satisfaction. The process begins with scores derived for each hospital in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) database. The score takes a subset of the questions HCAHPS uses that research shows are more important to women than to men. Weight is applied to each question to adjust for relative importance to arrive at a numerical score. Additionally, scoring incorporates in-depth research on customer satisfaction by gender conducted in conjunction with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  Scoring is totally objective and uniform. The best 100 scores in each of four size categories (Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large) determine the America's Best Hospitals for Outstanding Patient Experience award winners.  Hospitals cannot pay to be on the list.
