HTMS, an Emdeon Company, Selected by Colorado Health Insurance Cooperative to Provide Strategic Planning and Operational Roadmap

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HTMS, an Emdeon company, has been selected by the Colorado Health Insurance Cooperative (Colorado CO-OP) to provide strategic planning and an operational roadmap for the development of a consumer-owned health insurance plan. The Colorado CO-OP is a nonprofit, consumer-oriented and operated insurance company that aims to offer affordable, high-quality health coverage to individuals and small businesses. Sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Educational and Charitable Foundation, the Colorado CO-OP benefit plans will be made available through the Colorado Health Benefit Exchange and independent insurance brokers beginning in 2013.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) contains provisions that provide start-up loans and capital reserves to promote new consumer-governed, private, nonprofit health insurance issuers. The Colorado CO-OP was formed under these provisions and seeks to improve consumer choice and health plan accountability.
