Insurance Professionals Gain Insight at 2015 National Tornado Summit
OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Insurance industry leaders, emergency managers and weather experts will unite for the 2015 National Tornado Summit. The Summit offers critical information to prepare for a natural disaster, mitigate costs and save lives.
"Tornadoes don't just destroy homes and businesses, they destroy families and communities," said Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. "Those who attend the Summit will gain knowledge on how to make their communities safer and respond to disasters in the best way possible."
The Summit also serves as a national forum for insurance professionals and regulators to exchange ideas and recommend new policies to improve emergency management.
"Speakers from across the country will share their expert knowledge and real life experiences to increase safety, awareness, response and recovery," said Kim Decker, National Tornado Summit Committee Co-Chair. "Licensed agents and adjusters will go home with a playbook that includes the most up-to-date ideas and innovations for handling emergencies, along with 10 hours of continuing education credits."
Senator Ben Nelson, the CEO of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, will discuss the role the NAIC plays when natural disasters strike and the assistance they can provide to states in times of stress and need.
The Summit also includes a panel of insurance commissioners who will discuss "Disaster Readiness and Mitigation: A Discussion among Insurance Regulators." The panel will include Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon, Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney, Kentucky Insurance Commissioner Sharon Clark and Rhode Island Associate Director of Insurance Paula Pallozzi.
