International Bestselling Author James Frey Launches His Next Book Series with John Hanke, VP of Google's Niantic Labs, and a Musical Event

NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 7, 2014 HarperCollins Publishers and New York Super Week will host a concert event to celebrate the release of ENDGAME: The Calling, the book at the center of an immersive media project conceived by international bestselling author James Frey. Taking place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, the event will include a musical performance by world-renown DJ James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and DJ & iconic Radio Broadcaster Pete Tong MBE, dubbed the "Global Ambassador of Electronic Music." Frey will be joining John Hanke, VP of Google's Niantic Labs, as they discuss the Endgame universe.

Endgame goes beyond the pages of a book; each installment in the series will feature an interactive puzzle comprised of clues that will lead to the location of a hidden key. The first eligible reader to solve the puzzle for the first book and find the key will win $500,000 worth of gold. 20th Century Fox has picked up the theatrical rights in advance of ENDGAME: The Calling's highly-anticipated release. Google's Niantic Labs is developing a location-based augmented reality game that will bring the Endgame books to life in the real world. Technology is being utilized on a huge scale for Endgame and the launch event at the Hammerstein Ballroom reflects this in many ways: "From books to music to mobile apps and beyond, technology is at our disposal and has allowed us to create an entire universe for people to immerse themselves in," says Frey. Tickets go on-sale on September 8 at ticketmaster.com for $30. A copy of ENDGAME: The Calling, which Frey co-wrote with New York Times bestselling author Nils Johnson-Shelton, is included in the ticket price and will be available to ticket-purchasers when doors open at 7 PM. Frey will embark on an international 12 City tour with the kick-off event in New York City and other events to follow in Boston, Dayton, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Las Vegas, London (UK), Manchester (UK), and Toronto (CANADA).
