Exterior walls were thickened to allow doors and windows to be recessed. Over 40,000 reclaimed white bricks were used for the facade. All interior woodwork, including 25,000 lineal feet of molding, was custom designed. Nine-inch planks of ebonized white oak were employed for the wood flooring. The master bath was outfitted with imported English LeFroy Brooks fixtures, and Ann Sacks tile work was used throughout.
The grounds surrounding the gated estate were designed by landscape architect Daniel Busbin, who chose Pennsylvania blue stone for a series of entertaining terraces and patios. Highlight plantings include an amazing array of California native specimen trees, including thirty-foot Redwood Sequoias, California Oaks and magnolias.
Because the Pacific Palisades community revolves around family living, the redesign focused on accommodating a large family. The floor plan includes seven bedrooms, ten baths and three family rooms, one on each level. On the lower level, a media party area with full bar opens to a 1,000-square-foot outdoor retreat. The spectacular grounds feature a BBQ and bar area, fireplace, pool and spa, and expansive lawn. House systems can be controlled via iPhone or iPad.
