New Partner in Washington Office Brings Broad Experience in Patent Litigation, ITC Section 337 Actions

WASHINGTON, Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Whitaker, who has built an extensive legal practice focused on patent litigation and ITC Section 337 actions, joined Baker Botts L.L.P. today as a partner in the Intellectual Property department. He is based in the firm's Washington office.

Whitaker has successfully represented clients in electronics, telecommunications, chemical and software process patent disputes and licensing campaigns. He has also worked with clients involved in fast-track intellectual property litigation before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Whitaker currently serves as Vice Chair Division I of the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law and is a member of the board of directors of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

Before joining Baker Botts, Whitaker was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Howrey. Whitaker was a member of the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps before entering private practice as a litigator. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University and earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
