Lee Tran & Liang LLP Files Co-Founder Lawsuit against Leading Biotech Start-up Resilience
LOS ANGELES, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lee Tran & Liang LLP (LTL), the plaintiff's law firm in the Snapchat and Yik Yak co-founder disputes, announced today that it filed a lawsuit against one of the most promising biotechnology start-ups in the country, Resilience Therapeutics, Inc., and its officers Retsina Meyer and Jeffrey Sabados. LTL represents Veronica Sara Weiner, Ph.D., who co-founded Resilience with Defendant Meyer, a former colleague and fellow scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Resilience is a pioneer in developing a cure for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It has achieved national and international accolades. Resilience, represented by Dr. Weiner and Defendant Meyer, won the Grand Prize in the 2014 OneStart Americas competition. OneStart is widely known as the world's largest and most prestigious biotech and healthcare entrepreneurial competition.
The lawsuit alleges that Defendant Meyer, in conspiracy with Defendant Sabados, illegally ousted her business partner Dr. Weiner from Resilience. The lawsuit asserts claims for Breach of Express and Implied Partnership/Joint Venture Agreement; Breach of the Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing; Breach of Fiduciary Duty; Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices; Tortious Interference with Advantageous Business Relationship; Conversion; Accounting; and Unjust Enrichment. Dr. Weiner seeks 50% of Resilience, compensatory and multiple damages, rightful recognition as a co-founder of Resilience, recovery of her rights to the management, conduct, and information of the business, and other remedies. The lawsuit was filed in Boston, in the Business Litigation Session of the Superior Court of Suffolk County (Weiner v. Resilience Therapeutics, Inc. et al., Case No. 15-1624).
