Let Texans Decide Applauds State Legislators for Bipartisan Efforts to Allow State to Vote on Expanded Gaming
AUSTIN, Texas, March 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by John T. Montford , Chair of Let Texans Decide, on the bipartisan momentum behind legislation to allow Texas voters to decide the issue of expanded gaming (SJR 64 by Senator Carona, SJR 36 by Senator Hinojosa and HJR 121 by Representative Raymond):
"Like most Texans, I'm frustrated seeing billions of our hard earned dollars fleeing the state. Senator Carona, Senator Hinojosa and Representative Raymond have each authored legislation that puts the issue in front of the voters, allowing Texans to stop the hemorrhaging of billions of dollars to neighboring states while also putting our horse industry back on a level playing field. There is growing, bipartisan support to let Texas voters decide this issue."
Note: SJR 64 was filed yesterday, and all three pieces of legislation have been referred to committee and are awaiting a hearing.
Let Texans Decide is dedicated to providing the citizens of Texas the opportunity to vote on the expansion of gaming in Texas through the passage of a constitutional amendment in the Texas Legislature. This effort has the support of chamber organizations and business leaders across Texas in addition to leaders in the gaming industry.
