The new office will be led by Executive Vice President Laurie Connell, who has served as a key member of MacKenzie's mergers and acquisitions and proxy contest team, working on some of the firm's largest assignments, and advising numerous companies on corporate governance matters in connection with their annual meeting of shareholders.

In her last year at MCI, Laurie was actively involved in the hotly contested battle between Verizon and Qwest for control of MCI and its telecom assets.
