Maryland, My Maryland PAC Poll Finds Tight Race For Governor
Larry Hogan Withstands Democrat Onslaught, In Striking Distance of Brown
ANNAPOLIS, Md., Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Maryland, My Maryland PAC, an Independent Expenditure entity that supports Larry Hogan's gubernatorial campaign, today released results from its recently commissioned survey. Conducted by Gonzales and Associates, the poll found Lt. Governor Anthony Brown clinging to a statistically even race with 9% of voters undecided.
The poll was conducted by Gonzales Research & Marketing, Inc., which is a well-known and recognized and highly regarded and respected Maryland political polling firm. Gonzales polling is used by many Democrats throughout the state for their polling services as well.
"Despite over $1 million worth of negative, inaccurate attacks, Larry Hogan is on the verge of defeating Anthony Brown, as voters are clearly ready for a new direction," said the Honorable Bob Costa, Chairman of Maryland, My Maryland PAC. "While Anthony Brown has benefited from a huge influx of outside spending, Larry Hogan, to date, has had to fend for himself. We are here to change that dynamic."
Maryland, My Maryland PAC is organized as an Independent Expenditure Committee, pursuant with Maryland election law. It may raise and spend unlimited contributions in support of Larry Hogan's election.
"We will respond to false attacks coming from Lt. Governor Brown and his allies, and make sure voters know the facts before casting their ballots," said Costa. This poll was canvassed and taken during the time period of September 15-23rd well after weeks of the Brown campaign running extensive negative and false t.v. ads in the Washington and Baltimore media markets intended to scare the public and particularly women about Larry Hogan and try to make him into a demon and terrible person.
In addition to the "ballot test," the survey found that voters are more likely to believe that things in Maryland are headed off on the wrong track than believe that things are moving in the right direction. The survey also found that some 52% of likely voters had a negative feeling towards the launch of the Maryland Connect health exchange.
