McCall Farms, Inc. Expands Production Facility in Florence County, S.C. Expansion Calls for 80 Jobs and New Production Space

EFFINGHAM, S.C., Aug. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives of McCall Farms, Inc. recently announced expansion and growth plans for the company's manufacturing facility in Florence County. This includes a capital investment of $10.6 million.

The investment will add 80 jobs over the next three years, create more than 50,000 square feet of new space for production capacity, increase quality, and allow for 24-hour-a-day operation of the facility.

The expansion is scheduled for completion in October. Previously, the company expanded in March 2010 with a new distribution building.

With expansion, McCall Farms will be able to produce increased quantities of all its brands – Margaret Holmes, Glory Foods and Peanut Patch – due to more efficient production, guaranteeing customers that a greater amount of their fruits and vegetables will be available for enjoyment year-around.

"We are excited to see our company expand again in Florence County. Our business has grown greatly and we have a wider reach than ever," said Marion Swink, president of McCall Farms, Inc. "South Carolina has been a great home for our company, providing an excellent business environment and a fantastic workforce. We look forward to continuing to build on our success and appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials."

State Senator Hugh K. Leatherman applauded the company's dedication.

"McCall Farms is a fine example of a local homegrown business, adding so much to our community over the past decades of success," Leatherman said. "They currently employ nearly 850 hardworking individuals and it's refreshing to know that a majority of their products are still grown right here in South Carolina. I commend McCall Farms and look forward to many more years of growth, as they continue to call Florence County home."

McCall Farms, as it continues to reach new horizons, also works toward untold future advancements.

"South Carolina is where our roots are, and we want to keep building our company in this fertile soil where there is an array of economic opportunities, pools of talented workers and the support of an expansive community," said Woody Swink, regional director of sales for McCall Farms. "With this newest chapter in our history, we are not only demonstrating the diversity and strength of our company but also the diversity and strength of South Carolina and its vast resources of products and people."
