He was Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, the Consumer Protection & Privacy Committee, and the Utilities & Commerce Committee.

Mr. Harris is the former CEO of the Junior Statesmen of America, a student debate society formed in 1934 that is considered the largest and oldest student organization in the United States. He worked at JSA for 25 years, and is one of the country's most recognized and respected civic educators.
