MT. STERLING, Ky., Dec. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of AT&T's continuing efforts to drive economic development and investment in Kentucky, representatives from AT&T, local leadership, and the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Industrial Authority today announced that the Mt. Sterling Industrial Park has been designated AT&T Fiber Ready.
In today's world, connectivity is vital to employers and businesses of every type.
"The effort to attract new businesses to communities – especially in rural areas – is increasingly competitive, and as we work to continue improving the business-friendly environment in the Commonwealth, the AT&T Fiber Ready designation provides the opportunity to clearly show the presence of modern communications services," said State Senator Ralph Alvarado. "This can be a valuable tool as we continue to aggressively recruit new employers to the area."
"Investments from private industry are vital to making sure Kentuckians have access to the modern communications services they need, and with this designation, our economic development leaders in Mt. Sterling can show that we are ready to meet the communications needs of businesses with high-speed, fiber-optic connectivity right here in Montgomery County," said State Representative David Hale.
"I am proud of the work being done in Frankfort and here locally to encourage greater investment and support of our local economies," said Mt. Sterling Mayor Gary Williamson. "With this new AT&T Fiber Ready designation, we can clearly communicate to the business owners we are working with that the fiber-optic infrastructure that businesses need to succeed is available in Mt. Sterling."
The AT&T Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.
"We have many assets here in Montgomery County that make our area appealing to businesses and new employers, and I am proud that we have received the AT&T Fiber Ready designation as it will help us to emphasize the presence of the high-speed, communications capabilities that businesses require in today's economy," said Wally Johnson, Montgomery County Judge Executive.
"The AT&T Fiber Ready designation provides a clear stamp to tell the business community that we have the fiber-optic infrastructure in place to meet the needs of businesses, and as our elected officials continue to pursue efforts that make the Commonwealth even more attractive to companies, we will continue to work to bring high-quality jobs to the community," said Sandy Romenesko, Executive Director, Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Industrial Authority.
AT&T has been deploying high-speed, fiber-optic infrastructure across the Commonwealth for years, and the AT&T Fiber Ready designation is a tool for economic development leaders to highlight the assets available in their facilities.
"AT&T has a long history of investment in Mt. Sterling and Montgomery County, and I am happy to highlight the Mt. Sterling Industrial Park as an example of the many places across Kentucky where AT&T's fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive job creation," said Hood Harris, president of AT&T Kentucky. "Each and every day, our employees are turning our billions of dollars of investment into high-speed Internet for consumers and businesses across Kentucky, and it's exciting for us to have the opportunity to provide yet another resource to our friends who are driving economic development in Montgomery County."
