NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Council of Legislators from Gaming States ("NCLGS") will welcome new legislators from across the country who want to learn the basics about regulated gaming with a special forum titled "The Big Picture" when the organization holds its Winter Meeting, January 4-6 at Harrah's New Orleans.

"With some form of gambling legal in 48 states, it is important for legislators to understand the regulatory, performance, economic and social issues associated with the various forms of gaming. We have assembled a panel of experts in different disciplines to educate new legislators – and refresh more experienced legislators," said NCLGS Vice President Jennifer E. Benson, a Representative from Massachusetts.
The Big Picture will feature presentations on different aspects of the gaming industry. The expert presenters are as follows:

- Lotteries: May Scheve Reardon, Executive Director, Missouri Lottery
- Sports Betting: Lee Richardson, CEO, Gaming Economics, and Principal, Spectrum Gaming Sports Group
- Economic Impacts, Tax Policy: Michael Pollock, Managing Director, Spectrum Gaming Group
- Responsible Gaming: Keith Whyte, Executive Director, National Council on Problem Gambling
- Indian Gaming: E. Sequoyah Simermeyer, Associate Commissioner, National Indian Gaming Commission
- Pari-Mutuels: Eric Hamelback, CEO, National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association
More than 200 attendees, including dozens of state legislators, are expected to attend the three-day NCLGS Winter Meeting. The conference agenda includes:
- Keynote Luncheon Address from former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, whose arguments before the Supreme Court resulted in overturning the federal prohibition on sports betting
- Six legislative committee sessions: Casinos, Emerging Forms of Gaming, Lotteries, Pari-Mutuels, Sports Betting/iGaming, and State-Federal Relations
- Two Masterclasses presented by the International Masters of Gaming Law

NCLGS is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues relating to gaming. Members of NCLGS serve as chairpersons or members of state legislative committees responsible for the regulation of gaming in their state legislative houses.
