NMSDC Announces New Vice President of Field Operations

NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Marquis D. Miller has been named vice president of field operations for the National Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc.® (NMSDC®), one of the nation's leading corporate membership organizations, effective Monday, January 3, 2011. Mr. Miller will work with the NMSDC president to maximize organizational performance among the Council's 37 affiliates. He will work collaboratively with the affiliates to help align resources, plans, strategies and actions with NMSDC's mission, and enhance the services provided to NMSDC-certified Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American businesses.

"Mr. Miller brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic business development, field operations and organizational management to our senior staff," said NMSDC President Joset B. Wright. Most recently, Mr. Miller was head of The Business Mosaic, a consulting practice focused on organizational management in the non-profit, consumer/retail and business services sectors. Previously, Mr. Miller was vice president of business development for SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance and S. USA Life, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company in Chicago's Loop. He has also served as interim vice president of institutional advancement at Chicago State University (CSU), executive director of the CSU Foundation, vice president of external affairs for the Chicago Urban League and vice president of the Corporate Scholars Program of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Prior to that role, Mr. Miller was vice president of field operations for the UNCF's Midwest Office in Chicago.

Mr. Miller has a bachelor's degree in social and behavioral sciences from The Ohio State University.
