HOUSTON, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Northline Commons in North Houston will kick off the holiday shopping season with the Grand Opening of the new Walmart located adjacent to the center. "We're delighted to welcome Walmart to Northline Commons," stated Eugene O'Brien, Vice President of Berenson Associates, Inc., owner/developers of Northline Commons. Walmart, located at Northline Commons, will be open to customers at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 27.
U.S. Congressman Gene Green (TX-29) and Dr. Laura G. Murillo, President and CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will speak at a Ribbon-Cutting ceremony hosted by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 27.
“We are grateful for the opportunities that Walmart brings to the Northside neighborhood of Houston,” stated Congressman Gene Green. “Walmart brings us a beautiful new shopping opportunity, over 400 new jobs, new tax revenues, and unparalleled corporate generosity in the local community. We welcome Walmart as a win/win for both the shoppers and for our Northside community.”
"Especially in this economy, we know how important it is for our customers to find the best value for their families. They know when they shop at Walmart, they'll get a great price, and they can trust the quality of the product. Walmart is world-renowned for delivering quality, selection, price and customer service," commented O'Brien. "With the newly-designed Walmart store layout, our customers will also enjoy a clean, bright, easy-to-navigate shopping experience offered by the world's largest retailer," stated O'Brien.
Northline Commons has undergone a complete transformation in the past three years since Berenson Associates announced they would demolish the former Northline Mall in order to provide a more shopper-friendly, convenient, retail environment. The renovated center features an easy-to-park and easy-to-shop design, much improved safety features including the addition of plenty of parking lot lighting, brick customer walkways, and over 120 beautiful palm trees in a lush new landscape design.
Since the renovation, new stores open at the center include Marshall's, Ross Dress For Less, Office Depot, Conn's, The Children's Place, Verizon, Foot Locker, Shoe Carnival, Al's Formal Wear, Urban Zone, Rainbow Fashions, Foot Action, Dollar Tree and others. The Palais Royal department store is a long-time tenant at the center, and has relocated and updated their store as part of the redevelopment of the center.
Jeff Procell, General Manager of Northline Commons, says that the community has enthusiastically welcomed the new design for the shopping center. "Our shoppers are busy families. They know that they can come to Northline Commons and save time and money here. They can do their shopping and errands quickly in a safe and pleasant environment, and then relax and enjoy a meal in one of our restaurants," stated Procell. Restaurants at Northline Commons include IHOP, Cici's Pizza, Papa's Barbecue, China Star Buffet, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Chuck E. Cheese's.
"We're proud and excited to have Walmart join our tenant mix," Procell said. "Walmart sets such a high standard of community commitment and involvement, and at Northline Commons, our commitment to the community is a major part of our customer outreach," Procell noted that Northline Commons holds several events every year designed to serve the needs and celebrate the Northside Community. "We are committed to giving back to the Greater Northside Community," added Procell. "We show our appreciation to our customers through our Cinco de Mayo Festival, our partnership with Neighborhood Centers, Inc. for the Back-to-School Health Fair, and our annual holiday outreach program offering toys and food baskets to needy families in the Northline neighborhood.
